Dear Adobe in Action News subscribers,
Adobe preservation specialist Pat Taylor has been teaching a very special Intro to Adobe Preservation Workshop for us for the past few years. The 2-day field workshop is usually offered each spring and fall and is based around Pat’s ongoing restoration and preservation projects in Mesilla, New Mexico.
The latest workshop took place from March 15th to 17th with a group of graduate students from Pratt Institute’s Historic Preservation MS Program. Eleven students and two administrators made the trip from NYC to Mesilla and spent 3 days with Pat working on topics such as:
condition assessments
adobe making
earthen plaster
lime plaster
lime wash
Tours of historic adobe structures in the Mesilla area were also integrated into the workshop. For example:
Allin House
Chamber of Commerce
Griggs House
Provencio House
Here are some images of the workshop sent to us by Pratt:

Adobe in Action would like to thank the Pratt group for making this such a special event. And of course, a big thanks to Pat Taylor for continuing to share his expertise with Adobe in Action students. We look forward to offering more adobe preservation workshops in the near future!
Thanks for reading our latest news.
